Hut Lavender

A lovely stone house standing on the beautifully coloured field of mediterranean plants which is very liked an island on the blue turquoise sea.
Lavender is a popular of romantic plants for it's perfume and therapeutic virtues.

Along the roads of Luberon we discovered the lavenders in full bloom as well as the villages of Lourmarin and Saignon and passed by the Roussillon. An interesting arguement between a female passenger and the guide happened. On the pamphlet we have got, it's printed 3 villages on the english version but the time only permitted us to visit 2 villages which the guide choose Loumarin and Saignon but the passenger insisted to visit Roussilon as well. I m not in tat particular about this but I felt very frustrated when the gal said these ppl don't know Roussillon is the most beautiful villages in France. Actually, we have not much time in those villages , the main purpose of the 5 hours tour is to see beautiful lavender! I've been visited a few very beautiful France villages and I totally agree with the statement of tour guide "Every villages in France has it's own beauty and uniqueness."

On the way in the Luberon hill, our experienced tour guide explained the "Life of Lavender" for us. The lavenders begin planting in March. A mechanical weeding wofith a "griffon" fixed behind the tractor to pull out weeds between the rows of lavender from Apr to May. In mid June, flowering starts and in full flower in mid July. The weeding process must begin in Aug. Ten year old lavender must be pulled up and burnt in Oct and then the land prepare for march planting. In Nov, seeds sown in nurseries and germinate for the following Apr. In winter, ground is frozen and the lavender producer are "resting".
